Welcome! My name is Anna Lisa (Fahrenthold) Conlin and I am a somatic- and mindfulness-based mental health counselor, yoga instructor and yoga therapist in Austin, Texas. I believe in the healing powers of each individual's wisdom and experience and utilize techniques and tools from Eastern and Western approaches to facilitate healing and growth. I am a Master Level Social Worker, certified Yoga Therapist and certified Yoga Instructor. I am also completing training in Hakomi therapy.
I work with individuals and couples who are experiencing suffering and discord in life, including significant transitions, depression, anxiety, trauma-related suffering, marital and relationship conflicts and struggles with livelihood and career. I value working with people and groups of all ages, abilities and skill levels and I strive to create safe, engaging and nurturing spaces for people to heal and grow.
I specialize in High Sensory Processing Sensitivity or Highly Sensitive People (HSP). While not a disorder, like sensory processing disorder, HSP is a biological trait carried by approximately 20% of the population. Individuals with this trait process the world around them much more deeply. Our society is not necessarily structured to support these individuals, and, when the HSP trait is not understood or nurtured, deep suffering can occur. I have completed certifications for psychotherapists working with HSP from Elaine Aron, Ph.D. If you think this may be you and to learn more, please visit www.hsperson.com.
I am eternally grateful for my primary teachers and mentors: Keith Kachtick and Camilla Figueroa of Dharma Yoga and Dharma Yoga Therapy; Debbie Webb, Ph.D.; Steve Milan, LCSW; and for every client and student with whom I have had the honor of working. I learn and grow from each encounter.
